Derek Lamely had to contend with a rain-delayed start, slow play on a soggy course, and tamping down his inevitable nerves as he inched closer to notching his first win as a rookie on the PGA Tour. But the 29-year-old American emerged out of the pack with easygoing style, shooting a 66 Monday to win the Puerto Rico Open by two strokes.

Farmers Insurance must have liked what it saw at Torrey Pines in its 10 days as a title sponsor, deciding Monday to sign up for the next four years to fill an important hole of title sponsorship in the PGA Tour schedule. PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem did not disclose financial terms, saying only that the purse next year would be $5.8 million, an increase of $500,000 from this year.

The Masters will be broadcast in 3-D — although few Americans own the technology to take advantage. Augusta National announced Monday that next month’s tournament can be viewed on 3-D-capable television sets and computers. It will be the first 3-D sports event on TV in the United States; previous experiments used movie theaters.

Rookie Derek Lamely has won the weather-delayed Puerto Rico Open during a Monday finish on the rain-softened tropical course. Lamely finishes at 19-under-par 269 to outlast Kris Blanks at Trump International Golf Club-Puerto Rico, a palm-fringed 7,526-yard course which was deluged by rain early in the competition.
