Price takes 1-shot lead at Champions (AP)

It didn’t take Nick Price long to vault himself back into position for his first Champions Tour victory. Price, who blew a two-shot lead in the final round of the FedEx Kinko’s Classic in early May, shot a 5-under 66 Saturday to take a one-shot lead after the second round of the Principal Charity Classic.

Ailing Strange leads by 3 at Wales Open (AP)

Scott Strange maintained a three-shot lead after the third round of the Wales Open on Saturday, despite falling ill on the back nine. The 31-year-old Australian, who began the day with a four-stroke lead, shot 2-under 69 to reach 15-under for the tournament. He led Spanish tour rookie Alvaro Velasco, who shot a third-round 68, on the Celtic Manor Twenty Ten course.

Former NCAA champion Stacy Lewis and Alison Walshe stayed perfect on the Old Course, hanging on to win the final fourball match Saturday to give the Americans a 7 1/2 -4 1/2 lead in the Curtis Cup. Lewis, who won the NCAA title at Arkansas last year, played all four team matches over two days and won them all, but the final one might have been the most important.

Michelle Wie shot a 2-under 70 in the third round of the Ladies German Open on Saturday to fall seven strokes behind leader Amy Wang, who had a course record 63. Wie came into the day at 7-under, and birdied the third and seventh holes. But the 18-year-old Hawaiian had a bogey on No. 9 before finishing up with a birdie on the 11th to sit at 9-under 207.

Mathew Goggin might have to change his travel plans. The Aussie arranged a 5:50 p.m. flight to Memphis on Sunday so he could get a good night’s sleep before playing in a U.S. Open sectional qualifier on Monday.
